Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage daily field operations for heavy civil construction projects, including roads, bridges, utilities, and large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and according to specifications and quality standards.
- Supervise and direct field crews, subcontractors, and suppliers, ensuring efficient use of resources and adherence to safety protocols.
- Develop and implement construction schedules, ensuring work is completed according to project timelines and deadlines.
- Perform daily site inspections to monitor work quality, safety compliance, and adherence to plans and specifications.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, and clients to resolve issues, answer questions, and provide project updates.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental and safety requirements.
- Monitor and enforce all safety procedures and conduct regular safety meetings and toolbox talks with the team.
- Track and report on project progress, including completed work, challenges faced, and solutions implemented.
- Review and approve subcontractor work and ensure proper coordination between trades on-site.
- Review and approve foreman daily reports on HCSS Field.
- Coordinate material deliveries and manage the logistics of equipment and supplies to maintain project continuity.
- Assist with project cost tracking, identifying potential cost savings, and reporting discrepancies or overruns.
- Maintain a strong relationship with clients and other stakeholders, ensuring project satisfaction and addressing concerns promptly.
- Ensure proper documentation of project activities, including daily reports, inspections, and other required records.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in heavy civil construction, with at least 3 years in a superintendent role.
- Strong knowledge of heavy civil construction methods, equipment, materials, and safety standards.
- Experience managing large-scale infrastructure projects such as highways, bridges, and utilities.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate teams of field workers and subcontractors.
- Strong understanding of construction schedules, cost tracking, and quality control processes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, team members, and subcontractors.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety standards, and environmental guidelines.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities in fast-paced environments.
- Proficiency in HCSS Heavy Job and MS Office Suite.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various job sites across Maryland.
- OSHA 30-hour certification is required; OSHA 40-hour certification and First Aid/CPR certifications are a plus.
